Santa Maria is a place and a former municipality ( freguesia ) in Portugal and belongs to the district ( concelho ) of Serpa . The community had an area of 155 km² and 1870 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).
The area of Santa Maria included the urban area of Serpas.
The following localities belonged to the municipality:
- Cabeceiras de Vale Queimado
- Neta
- Serpa
With the regional reform of September 29, 2013 , the municipalities of Serpa (Santa Maria) and Serpa (Salvador) were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Serpa (Salvador e Santa Maria) .
