Santa Marinha is a place and a former municipality ( freguesia ) in northwest Portugal .
Santa Marinha belongs to the district of Vila Nova de Gaia in the district of Porto . The community had an area of 5.9 km² and 30,445 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).
On September 29, 2013, the parishes of Vila Nova de Gaia (Santa Marinha) and São Pedro da Afurada were merged to form the new parish União das Freguesias de Santa Marinha e São Pedro da Afurada .
