Santa Rita

Santa Rita is a city and district in the Alto Paraná department in Paraguay, 70 km southwest of Ciudad del Este . It was founded in 1973 by Brazilian immigrants. The district has about 32,600 inhabitants.

history

The place was founded in 1973 by the Brazilian Osvino Schneider and declared a district on December 4, 1989. Before that, the city was known as Santa Rita del Monday . Over half of the population are Brazilians or their children.

economy

The economy is based on agriculture and livestock, as well as industry and trade. The main products are soy, maize, rapeseed, sunflower as well as pigs and poultry. An Italian pasta factory has set up shop which produces spaghetti, vermicelli and biscuits and exports most of them to Brazil. The Berghofer textile factory comes from Brazil and produces uniforms, among other things. Furthermore, a car factory is planned to assemble imported parts for electric cars. Already be on site semi-trailer built. A regional consumer exhibition, the Expo Santa Rita, takes place in the city every year .
