Santa Tecla de Basto is a place and a former municipality ( freguesia ) in northern Portugal .
Santa Tecla de Basto belongs to the Celorico de Basto district in the Braga district . The community had an area of 3.2 km² and 213 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).
On September 29, 2013, the municipalities of Basto (Santa Tecla) and Carvalho were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Carvalho e Basto (Santa Tecla) .
