Santana Gohain

Santana Gohain (* 1969 ) is a contemporary Indian artist . She lives and works in Baroda .

Life

Santana Gohain studied print-making at the College of Arts and Crafts in Assam and completed her postgraduate diploma in print-making at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Baroda , with distinction. There she worked on printmaking workshops with the Spanish artist Joaquin Capa and on sculpture workshops with the French professor Jean-Louis Raymond. The abstract artist also took part in various art camps in India. Her work has also been exhibited internationally.

Santana Gohain almost always works with different media and materials in her works, such as chalk, graphite and paper. About her work she said: “Works are not only paintings, working on the surfaces is very sculptural. I use graphite like clay ”. I use graphite like mud.", Santana Gohain, 2008) In December 2007 Santana Gohain was awarded the Prix ​​de la ville de Sarcelles as part of the Biennale de la Gravure awarded in Sarcelles , France .

Gohain has participated in various group exhibitions around the world since 1994, for example in San Francisco , New Jersey , Mumbai , Bangalore , Nagpur , Baroda , Chandigarh and Bhopal .
