In contrast to more well-known events such as the Oscar or BAFTA award ceremony, no distinction is made between the award of adapted materials (14 awards so far) and original scripts (15 awards). The most successful in this category was Alan Bennett , who has won the award three times, followed by Neil Jordan and Richard Curtis with two wins each. Three times (1982, 1997, 2000) the winner agreed with the eventual Oscar winner.
