Robert Bolt

Robert Oxton Bolt (born August 15, 1924 in Sale , England , † February 20, 1995 in Petersfield , England) was a British playwright and screenwriter.

Life

Robert Bolt attended Manchester Grammar School and then studied history and English at the University of Manchester . Not much is known about his private life.

He wrote scripts for famous films such as Doctor Zhivago and Lawrence of Arabia . Bolt was awarded an Oscar in 1966 for Doctor Zhivago . In 1967 he won a second Oscar for his screenplay for A Man Every Season . Both times he received the award in the category Best Adapted Screenplay . He has received the Golden Globe Award three times , most recently in 1988 for his work on Mission . There were also other prizes and nominations.

Bolts stage play for children The little fat knight (The Thwarting of Baron Bolligrew) was approved by the Augsburg Puppet Theater produced as a puppet piece and the first time by the end of 1963 Hessian Radio broadcast in six episodes.

Bolt was married to British actress Sarah Miles from 1967 to 1975 and from 1988 until his death in 1995 .
