Santi Martiri dell'Uganda a Poggio Ameno (in latino : Titulus Sanctorum Martyrum Ugandensium ) is a parish and titular church in the Roman Quarter Ardeatino . The church is dedicated to the Ugandan martyrs around Karl Lwanga .

history

The area around the church is a poorly planned and poorly planned part of Rome. The parish was founded on September 4th 1970 by a decree of Cardinal Vicar Angelo Dell'Acqua . Initially, the service was celebrated in shops. Finding a building site was difficult because there was also some ideological opposition to the building of the church. The original church planning was carried out by Giuseppe Vaccaro , who died before construction began in 1970. He was succeeded by Ennio Canino and the site manager was Gualtiero Gualtieri. Construction began in 1973 and continued until 1980.

On June 28, 1988, Pope John Paul II raised her to the title church.
