Santiago Amat Cansino (born June 22, 1887 in Barcelona , † November 5, 1982 ibid) was a Spanish sailor .
successes
Santiago Amat, who started sailing in 1903, competed in three Olympic Games . He finished his Olympic debut in 1924 in Paris in the monotype in 1924 in fourth place behind the tied Hans Dittmar . In a jump-off for the silver and bronze medals, he crossed the finish line behind Henrik Robert and Hans Dittmar. At the same time, he started in 1924 in the competition with the 6-meter class, which he finished in eighth place. At the Olympic Games in Amsterdam in 1928 , he did not get past 14th place in the 12-foot dinghy. Four years later he secured the bronze medal in Los Angeles in the Snowbird with 76 points as third place behind Jacques Lebrun and Bob Maas . At the age of 65, he was also third at the 1952 European Championships.
