Adrianus Lambertus Joseph "Bob" Maas (born October 18, 1907 in Jakarta , Dutch East Indies , † December 17, 1996 in Hilversum ) was a Dutch sailor .

successes

Bob Maas took part in four Olympic Games . When he made his Olympic debut in Los Angeles in 1932 , he took part in two competitions. In the star boat he took sixth place with his brother Jan , while he won a medal in the one-handed dinghy Snowbird . With 85 points, he finished second behind Jacques Lebrun and in front of Santiago Amat , which earned him the silver medal. Four years later he sailed at the games in Berlin , whose sailing regattas were held in the Olympiahafen Düsternbrook in Kiel , only in the star boat . With Willem de Vries Lentsch he won the bronze medal in third behind the Germans Peter Bischoff and Hans-Joachim Weise as well as Arvid Laurin and Uno Wallentin from Sweden. He also won bronze in the Starboot at the Olympic Games in London in 1948 , this time together with Edward Stutterheim . They scored 4731 points and finished the competition behind the father-son duo Hilary and Paul Smart from the United States and the Cubans Carlos de Cárdenas Culmell and Carlos de Cárdenas Plá in third place. In 1952 in Helsinki Maas and Stutterheim did not get beyond eighth place.

Maas competed in international regattas with decreasing success until the 1960s. Professionally, he imported cars from the United States, which he sold in Utrecht .
