Saor Patrol ([ʃoːɐ̯ pətrol], dt. "Liberty patrol ") is a Scottish folk band from Kincardine in Scotland .
The band mainly plays their own pieces. All songs are instrumental and are played with Great Highland Bagpipe , drums and electric guitar . All band members are members of the Clanranald Trust for Scotland , a non-profit organization recognized in Scotland whose primary aim is to preserve and spread Scottish culture and heritage through entertainment and education. This includes the recreation of a medieval Scottish village called Duncarron . The band's income is donated to this task.
history
Charlie Allan had the idea for this band while making the film Gladiator in 1999. After learning to play the bagpipe himself, he looked for musicians to join the ranks of the Clanranald Trust for Scotland. The band made appearances in Great Britain , USA , Italy , Japan , Taiwan , Norway , Austria , Switzerland , Germany , Netherlands , Africa , Australia .
