history

In 1995 the decision was made to rebuild an original medieval village to illustrate the life and culture of Scotland at that time. The trust was founded and the proceeds and donations that are collected through the various activities ( Saor Patrol , Combat International, Scottish Federation of Medieval Martial Arts (SFMMA)) flow into this project. So far, over € 2,300,000 has been made available for the construction of Duncarron. Planning for the project began in 1996. Archaeologists , historians and architects were called in to present the village as authentic as possible . At the same time, a suitable location was sought and they found what they were looking for in the Carron- Valley-Forest. A big supporter is film actor Russell Crowe, with whom chairman Charlie Allan is close friends. For example, he gave the village a battering ram from the film Robin Hood worth 60,000 British pounds . This forms one of the exhibits there. On May 18 and 19, 2019, Duncarron opened after around 19 years of construction.
