Sara Barkin

Sara Barkin , married Sara Sandler (born September 6, 1908 in Uman , Russian Empire , † February 14, 2002 in Toronto ) was a Canadian singer (soprano) and pianist.

Live and act

The sister of the pianist Leo Barkin and the singer Jack Barkin (Jacob Barkin) came to Canada in 1925 with her family, parents Abraham and Sheina Barkin, and studied piano with WO Forsyth and Mona Bates and singing with Nina Gale at the Toronto Conservatory of Music . In New York she was a singing student of Maria Kurenko and Frank La Forge. She performed as a singer with various orchestras in Toronto between 1934 and 1937 and was a soloist in the annual performances of Bach's St. Matthew Passion at the Toronto Conservatory of Music from 1937 to 1942 . From 1943 to 1973 she was the soprano soloist in the choir of the Holy Blossom Temple in York (Ontario) , now a district of Toronto, and she also performed as a piano accompanist at concerts and on the radio.

Barkin was married to Murray Sandler.
