Sarah Christ (born August 27, 1980 in Berlin ) is a German - Australian harpist .

She comes from a family of musicians. Her father Wolfram Christ was a solo violist with the Berliner Philharmoniker for many years . At the age of ten she took harp lessons first from Margit Süß and then from Marie-Pierre Langlamet. In 1999 she began her studies with Catherine Michel in Detmold , continued with Fabrice Pierre in Lyon , and completed it in the chamber music master class with Helga Storck in Munich .

At the age of 21 Sarah Christ won a position at the Vienna State Opera , which she gave up two years later in order to be able to devote herself fully to her solo and chamber music activities. Sarah Christ continues to play in orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic and Vienna Philharmonic , the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden , the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and was invited by Claudio Abbado to the Lucerne Festival Orchestra .

At the age of 13 she made her solo debut with the Berliner Symphoniker. Since then she has played as a soloist with the Prague Opera Orchestra, the Jena Philharmonic, the Sinfonietta Cologne and the Mahler Academy Orchestra. Sarah Christ is a scholarship holder of the German Music Council . She has performed at festivals such as Lockenhaus , Lucerne Festival , Prague Autumn, Edinburgh Festival , Tanglewood and the Schwetzingen Festival with Emmanuel Pahud , Gérard Caussée, Renaud Capuçon, Bruno Grossi and others. a. on.

Sarah Christ gives concerts in a duo with her brother Raphael (violin) with whom she won 1st prize at the BDI competition.
