Career

Torge Johannsen in a Bundesliga game

At the age of eight he began his career with the North Frisian club SZ Ohrstedt, a sports club for several municipalities of the Viöl office . In 2000 he then moved to the then second division club HSG Tarp-Wanderup . Three years later, the SG Flensburg-Handewitt took him under contract, where he first played for the second team in the regional league. There he contributed significantly to promotion to the second handball league north in the 2003/04 season, but could not prevent the direct relegation. After a few short appearances in the first team in the Champions League and in the 2004/05 Bundesliga, some of which were made possible by injuries to established players , he was loaned out for a year to the second division club TSV Bayer Dormagen , where he was supposed to gain match practice. Here he was increasingly used in the right backcourt and only just missed promotion to the Bundesliga (defeat due to the fewer away goals scored in the relegation against Wilhelmshaven HV ). He belonged now complete at the Bundesliga squad Flensburg and got helped by injuries to the then Chief Right Wing Søren Stryger relatively long operating times in the Bundesliga and the Champions League , where he himself acknowledged handball experts positively surprised and his reputation as being a talent. On December 30, 2009 Johannsen moved with immediate effect to the first division promoted TSV Hannover-Burgdorf, with whom he participated in the EHF Europe Cup 2013/14 and reached the group stage. Since the 2018/19 season he has also worked as an assistant coach for the club's second team.
