Sarah Sorge (born August 26, 1969 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German politician . She is a member of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen and was a member of the Hessian state parliament from 2001 to 2012 , where she was her parliamentary group's spokesperson for science and culture. From 2005 to 2012 Sorge was Vice President of the Hessian State Parliament. From March 2012 to July 2016 she was City Councilor and Department Head for Education and Women in the City of Frankfurt am Main.

Political career

Sarah Sorge graduated from the Bettinaschule in Frankfurt am Main in 1989 and then studied political science at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main , where she was involved in the student body . She has been a member of the Greens since 1993. She was active in the Hessian Green Youth and immediately after joining the party became the spokeswoman for the Green Youth Table in Frankfurt and an assessor in the district board of the Frankfurt Greens. She held these offices until 1997. From 1997 to 1999 and from 2007 to 2009 she was the board spokeswoman of the Frankfurt district association of Bündnis90 / Die Grünen.

In 1997 she was elected to the Frankfurt city council and at the same time became spokeswoman (chairwoman) of the district association of her party. Before moving to the state parliament for Alexander Müller in 2001 , she was regional manager of the Hessian Greens for two years. She was re-elected as a candidate on the list in the state elections in 2003 , 2008 and the early state elections in 2009 . In addition, she always ran for the constituency of Frankfurt am Main IV .

As a member of the state parliament, she dealt primarily with universities, science and art, as well as preventing the expansion of the airport in Frankfurt and promoting equality for women.

In February 2012, Sorge was elected head of education in the Frankfurt city council with the votes of the Greens and the CDU. After being voted out of office in July 2016, she trained as a coach and since then has been advising and coaching women in management positions and management teams, primarily in politics, administration and educational institutions.
