Sascha Ball

Sascha Ball (born October 28, 1977 ) is a German fistball player and world champion.

After several years in the national team , Sascha Ball is the captain of the German team. Defender Ball played most of 52 international matches as a representative of TK Hannover . Ball comes from Berlin , however , where he initially represented the gymnastics community in Berlin. In the field, the defender was one of the top German players with VfK 1901 Berlin . At the end of the 2007/2008 indoor season, Ball and his club had to be relegated from the 1st Bundesliga North. The 1.70 meter tall fistball player got his nickname "Icke" from the former national coach Udo Schulz, based on the footballer Thomas "Icke" Häßler , who also came from Berlin .

At the 2003 World Cup , Industriekaufmann Ball was with the team of the German Gymnastics Federation in the final of the Fistball World Cup in Brazil, which the Germans lost to the hosts. From the 2006 European Championships in Linz and the discharged in Lower Saxony 2007 World Cup returned ball each home with a bronze medal. At the 2008 European Championships in Stuttgart, Ball was also in the squad of national coach Olaf Neuenfeld , but had to vacate his regular place. With the national team he was again only third. On August 13, 2011, Sascha Ball won his first World Cup title as captain with the German national fistball team in Pasching against hosts Austria in 4-2 sets . He then ended his international career.
