Sascha Bunge

Sascha Bunge (* 1969 in Brandenburg an der Havel ) is a German theater director .

Life

His mother is a doctor, his father Wolf Bunge is a director and former director of the Freie Kammerspiele Magdeburg. Bunge grew up in East Berlin. He began his theater career as an assistant director at the Volkstheater Rostock before studying theater studies and cultural communication and German at the Humboldt University of Berlin and showing his first directorial work with the Hoftheater Prenzlauer Berg ( Lovely Rita by Thomas Brasch , Spectacle Cressida by Stefan Schütz). In 1993, together with Titus Faschina Kleist's drama fragment Robert Guiskard and Heiner Müller , he staged The Battle at the German State Theater in Timisoara, Romania . From 1994 to 1996 he headed the project theater in Dresden and worked for the Tanzbühne and the Festspielhaus Hellerau as a producer, dramaturge and production manager.

Since 1998 he has worked as a director and author at the Freie Kammerspiele Magdeburg , the Schauspiel Leipzig , in Halle an der Saale, Senftenberg, Pforzheim, Aachen, at the Maxim-Gorki-Theater in Berlin, at the Oldenburgisches Staatstheater, at the LTT Tübingen, at the Mainfrankentheater Würzburg and at the Konstanz Theater. In addition, in collaboration with the set designer and video artist Constanze Fischbeck , he realized various scenic sketches and video installations for independent production houses, festivals ( rich and famous 2001 in Podewil Berlin, Poker im Osten 2005 in Hebbel am Ufer - HAU 1) and galleries (Goethe-Institut Sarajevo , Art Office Berlin-Tiergarten, Kommunale Galerie Berlin-Lichtenberg, Schlesische27, House of World Cultures).

In 2005, Bunge took over the artistic direction of the Theater an der Parkaue - Junge Staatstheater Berlin, together with artistic director Kay Wuschek and chief dramaturge Karola Marsch . Until 2014, he was senior director and deputy director, and was jointly responsible for the artistic profile of the house in addition to directing. In addition to staging classic fabrics, he devotes himself to the texts of contemporary authors, for example those of the Russian conceptualist Vladimir Sorokin . He has a particularly close collaboration with the authors Annett Gröschner and Lothar Trolle . Bunge is increasingly working on fairy tale and prose texts for the stage. His directorial work is characterized by strictness of form as well as a high level of linguistic concentration and relies heavily on ensemble work.

Since 2017, Bunge has been working as senior director at the Landesbühne Niedersachsen-Nord Wilhelmshaven.
