Sasha Mäkilä (born June 19, 1973 in Kerava , Finland ) is a Finnish conductor .

Live and act

Mäkilä studied with Leonid Kortschmar at the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory in Saint Petersburg and with Leif Segerstam at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki . He won u. a. 2006 a prize at the International Conducting Competition Vakhtang Jordania . From 2007 to 2010 he was assistant to Kurt Masur at the Orchester National de France and from 2010 to 2012 assistant to Franz Welser-Möst at the Cleveland Orchestra . From 2012 to 2016 he was chief conductor of the St. Michel Strings in Mikkeli, Finland . Since 2017 he has been Artistic Director of the Helsinki Metropolitan Orchestra and permanent guest conductor of the Krasnoyarsk Symphony Orchestra .
