daughter of Amun

Satamun (also Ahmose-Sat-Amun, Sitamun ) was an ancient Egyptian king daughter of Ahmose I during the early 18th Dynasty .

background

Family and title

As the daughter of Ahmose I, Satamun was also the sister of Amenophis I ; she bore the titles of sister king , daughter of king , and wife of God of Amun . Her mother's question is unanswered, as there are other women besides Ahmose Nefertari and a sister of Meritamun I.

tomb

Satamun may have died very early, as her mummy was found by Gaston Maspero in a child's coffin in the cachette of Deir el-Bahari . However, the mummy of Satamun was missing almost all body parts, which is why the body measurements could not be used for a reconstruction. The mummy was wrapped in a reed mat containing only the skull and a few bones.

It remains unclear whether the nature of the mummy's condition had something to do with its death or whether it was grave robbers who looted the mummy in this way. There is also the possibility that the mummy was in this condition when it was later reburied in the eighth year of Psusennes I's reign (around 1033 BC), as Psusennes I had an additional entry added: Restoration of Satamun ( 29th Peret III ).
