To the name and the classification

In older literature and on older maps, Damülser Horn can also be found , according to Dieter Seibert , the author of the current Alpine Club guide for the region, “an artificial word that disappears again, and which - as once - on the 1929 m high summit above Unterdamüls [a Second peak of the Glatthorn in the northwest ridge ⊙ ]. " ! 547.2702785509.8688895

According to Walther Flaig , the author of the older Alpine Club Guide (1977), the border between the Bregenzerwaldgebirge and Lechquellengebirge, which changes from Au an der Bregenzer Ach and the Argenbachtal and Damüls to the Großwalsertal and the Lutz , lies on the Faschinajoch, as well as in the Alpine Club division for the hut directory (AVE) according to Grassler 1984 is given. He led the Glatthorn group on the Faschinajoch (No. 11) as one of the 11 subgroups of the Bregenzerwald Mountains. The Glatthorn group can also be found in this form in the SOIUSA after Marizzi with the number 22.I.1.a in the Bregenzerwald Mountains (22.I).

Seibert (2008) gives the border west of the Glatthorn, over the saddle of Oberdamüls and the Ladritschertobel to the Lutz near Garsella . Then, the Glatthorn belongs to train Glatthorn- Zitterklapfen - high Künzelmann forming the sub-group # 1 of the Lechquellen mountain.. This limit goes back to the hydrographic classification according to Hubert Trimmel (1968) - there the whole train with the no. 1119 is sorted under the group Rheintal – Walgau – Bregenzer Wald (1110).

Development and ascent

The Faschina-Fontanella ski area is located on the northern flank (today, together with Damüls and Mellau, the Faschina-Damüls-Mellau ski area ).

From there you can reach the Schluchtensattel via a flower educational trail created in 2005 . From here it is steep and partly secured with wire ropes ( T3 / SAC ) to the summit. Other route variants from the Faschinajoch are also marked. It is also possible to approach from Fontanella and Fatnellaalpe from the south and from Oberdamüls via the actual Damülser Horn from the north. In the west flank there is a high path that runs above the Ladritschtobel.
