Satu Taskinen (* 1970 in Helsinki , Finland ) is a Finnish writer .

Life

Satu Taskinen graduated from the Kallio High School of Expressionism in Helsinki and studied philosophy and German at the University of Helsinki . After stays in the Netherlands and Germany, she has lived in Vienna since 1999.

In addition to working in adult education, she has written articles, interviews and criticism with a focus on new German, especially Austrian, literature and culture for Finnish magazines, including the literary and cultural magazines Parnasso and Nuori Voima. Satu Taskinen was a foreign correspondent for Fifi, the Internet edition of Voima newspaper, from 2008-2013 and took part in programs on the Finnish radio station YLE on German-language literature and culture. She is a member of the Finnish Writers 'Association and the Finnish Critics' Association SARV and was invited to the jury of the competition for the best debut 2012 as last year's winner.

Her first novel Täydellinen paisti was published by Teos in Finland in 2011. The novel was read in full on the Finnish radio YLE from June 2012 to February 2013 in the weekly reading series. A German translation was published in March 2013 by Transit Buchverlag in Berlin with the title The Perfect Roast Pork . Her second novel Katedraali was published by Teos in 2014. It is the second part of the novel trilogy set in Vienna. It was published in September 2015 by the Austrian Residenz-Verlag with the title The Cathedral in German. Her third novel Lapset was published by Teos-Verlag in 2017. The publication of a translation into German under the title Kinder in the Residenz-Verlag was announced for 2018 . All three novels are translated by Regine Pirschel .

Taskinen's works are often referred to as European in the media . It became, among other things, the International Book Festival Budapest , the European Festival of the Debut Novel Schleswig-Holstein , the writing samples - conference and reading festival of Nordic and German-speaking authors , the International Author Conference Young Literature in Europe in Greifswald, the International Author Conference Liwre 2015 in Mukkula / Lahti, for Hausacher Reading Lenz 2015 and invited to the Nordic Literature Days 2015 in Hamburg. She is part of the CROWD network. The Nordic Authors for the Future of Literature conference for young Nordic writers was planned, organized and hosted in 2015 at the Saari residence and in Helsinki by Leena Parkkinen and Satu Taskinen.
