The Satyr Publishing is a Berlin Small Press with an emphasis on humor , satire and entertaining fiction . The publisher is based in Berlin-Friedrichshain .

Publishing history

founding

The publishing house was founded in 2005 by Peter Maassen as part of the nationwide comedy and media network Blue-Fun (which is primarily active in the field of cabaret ) and operated as a GbR . The eponymous satyr refers to the cheerful forest spirits of Greek mythology . The first titles of the publishing house were edited and supervised by the Berlin author Heiko Werning , the first publication in June 2005 was the short story collection Hahnchen, unfortunately by the Berlin reading stage author Uli Hannemann . By July 2011, 24 more titles followed, the most successful of which was the collection of stories Sex - There was never talk of fun . There are close personal ties between the publisher and the Berlin reading stage scene : Satyr published all of the Brauseboys reading stage publications . Other nationally known authors of the publisher include Nils Heinrich , Micha-El Goehre , Katinka Buddenkotte , Sebastian Schnoy and Laabs Kowalski .

Development and present

In September 2011, who took writer and former Satyr - lector Volker Surmann the publisher and leads him ever since as a sole trader continued. Instead of collections of stories as in the past, novels have increasingly shaped the publishing program.

Structures

The Satyr Publishing is a member of the Association of German Book Trade , and is assigned to the "young publishers". Eight to ten entertainment novels, story collections or anthologies of young (often Berlin) writers from the authoring scene around poetry slams and reading stages are published each year . Since 2012 the publisher has also been cooperating with the comical literary magazine EXOT .
