Savanna-la-Mar (also called Sav-la-Mar ) is a port city on the southwest coast of Jamaica . It is the capital and administrative seat of Parish Westmoreland Parish , in County Cornwall . At the 1991 census, 16,553 people lived here, and in 2010 the number of inhabitants is estimated at 19,523.
The city was founded along with the Parish in 1730, and was destroyed and rebuilt by hurricanes in 1748, 1780 and 1912 . The main industries are sugar processing and the meat industry.
