Darliston is a country town in southwest Jamaica . The city is located in County Cornwall in the Parish Westmoreland . In 2010 Darliston had a population of 1582 people.
geography
Darliston is located on an average 420 meter high plato in the Cornwall Mountains. The area around the place alternates between cultivated land and jungle and is mostly at a constant height. The Plato is surrounded by higher peaks that are up to 650 meters above sea level.
The city is located approximately 10 miles northeast of Savanna-la-Mar , the capital of Westmoreland Parish. The closest settlements are the small towns of Chilton and Enfield which are about 3 kilometers south. At the same distance, but to the west, is the village of Clifton .
Transport and economy
Most of the Darliston residents make a living from raising livestock and growing the breadfruit tree .
In 2005, the Jamaican government opened a $ 6.6 million transportation center funded by the National Urban / Rural Renewal Program and the Westmoreland Parish Council.
