Savannah is an American television series with a southern flair. The series is set in the city of Savannah in the US state of Georgia and ran from January 1996 to February 1997 in the USA on The WB.
action
Savannah revolves around the lives of three very different friends who have known each other since childhood: Reese, the rich girl from a good home and daughter of the rich entrepreneur Edward Burton, Peyton, the cunning schemer and daughter of Burton's housekeeper, and Lane, the selfless Journalist.
Reese Burton, the naive sweet innocence and daddy's darling, is about to marry her childhood sweetheart Travis. In addition, Reese wants to go her own way in the future so that she no longer has to rely on her father's money.
Peyton Richards, the bitter friend, lives with the Burtons through her mother's housekeeping job and enjoys every convenience. Reese and Peyton grow up like sisters. Still, Peyton secretly despises Reese. Reese has everything, Peyton has nothing. That's why Peyton would get married for the money, and pursue sly plans wherever possible. Peyton is jealous of Reese's rich sheltered life and wants nothing more than to live like that himself. The rumor of who Peyton's father is makes for a surprising twist. After a game of intrigue, it turns out that Peyton is the illegitimate daughter of Edward Burton, the richest man in Savannah. And thus Reese's sister. Now she is entitled to this rich lifestyle, she believes, and Peyton can use any means for that.
Lane McKenzie, who left Savannah after college with the aim of becoming a successful journalist in New York, is returning for the wedding of the year. There Lane meets the policeman Dean, her childhood sweetheart in high school, and there is another spark between the two.
The series starts with the two-part pilot film, in which Reese and her childhood sweetheart Travis are married. Reese has no idea that Travis is having an affair with Peyton. Travis and Reese get married, but Travis assures Peyton that the marriage will not last. Since he has as much as Peyton, namely nothing, he only marries Reese for the money. However, Travis promises Peyton that he will marry her after the breakup. As a free rich man you would have enough money to start a new life in luxury. When Peyton realizes that Travis never intended to leave Reese, she is furious. Peyton hires a girl to pretend to be "Bunny", the nickname Travis Peyton gave. Reese, convinced that Travis cheated on her, announces the divorce. Travis gets drunk, confronts Peyton, and tells Reese to tell the truth. Peyton feels cornered and hits Travis over the head with a bottle. Travis is dead, and Peyton puts his body in the trunk of her car to dispose of it. On the way, Peyton's tire bursts and the policeman Dean, Lane's childhood sweetheart, happens to be around to help her. When Peyton is supposed to open the trunk in which the corpse is to get a spare tire, it has disappeared.
This is followed by a series of a total of 32 further episodes with various entanglements around intrigue, power, deception, money, sex and love.
