Raymond Herbert "Ray" Wise (born August 20, 1947 in Akron , Ohio ) is an American actor .

Life

Ray Wise was born in Akron , Ohio and is half of Romanian descent. Wise has been married to Kass McClaskey, a producer of television commercials, since 1978. Both have a son (* 1985) and a daughter (* 1987). Wise lives in Glendale , California .

Career

After Wise in the early 1980s, different roles in less sensational cinema and television films like the doctor's Alec Holland in Wes Craven's The Swamp Thing ( Swamp Thing had played) in 1982, he experienced in the late 1980s, his breakthrough as Actor. After he was able to draw attention to himself in Paul Verhoeven's science fiction film RoboCop with the part of the "cool" killer Leon Nash, Wise was offered numerous roles in television series in the following years. His greatest success was the role of Leland Palmer in David Lynch's acclaimed TV series Twin Peaks , which finally established him as a sought-after actor on US television.

In the following years he played numerous roles in television series such as Star Trek: Spaceship Voyager , Charmed - Magic Witches or The West Wing - In the center of power . In 2006, Wise starred as Don Hollenbeck in the motion picture Good Night, and Good Luck , before returning to the television beast with the role of US Vice President in the fifth season of Series 24 . From 2007 to 2009, he portrayed the devil in the television series Reaper . In 2013 he appeared for the first time as an actor in a music video for the song Wishes by the pop duo Beach House . As narrator William Dekker, he led the documentary Digging Up the Marrow , which was directed by Adam Green in 2014.
