Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is an American horror series directed by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa . The series is based on the comic book series of the same name, which has been published by Archie Horror, an imprint of the comic book publisher Archie Comics , since 2014.

The Netflix production is often, incorrectly, referred to as the gritty remake of the television series Sabrina - Totally Bewitched! referred to, but based on the comic book series Sabrina the Teenage Witch . While this film adaptation was conceived as a family-friendly sitcom , both the comic book series and the series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina are aimed at an older audience and have little in common with Sabrina the Teenage Witch apart from the protagonists of the same name .

The first ten episodes of the first season were released on October 26, 2018. A special episode was made available on December 14, 2018, while the remaining nine episodes of season one were released on April 5, 2019. production

Pre-production

As early as September 2017 it was announced that a series adaptation of the comic book series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was in the works and should go on air on the television channel The CW in autumn 2018. The series should take place in the same universe as Riverdale , which is also based on a comic book series from Archie Comics. In December 2017, the video-on-demand provider Netflix took over production and announced the production of two seasons of ten episodes each, which were later merged into a single season with two parts. In December 2018, Netflix announced the production of a second season with 16 episodes, which, like the first season, will be split into two parts.

Filming

Filming began on March 19, 2018, shortly after Riverdale's second season was completed. This enabled the production company to work with the same film crew. Filming includes 20 episodes for the first season and was completed in December 2018. Filming of the 16-part second season began on April 29, 2019.

Episode list

The organization saw the depiction of the statue of the demon Baphomet appearing in the series as their own creation and Netflix used it illegally. The point of criticism was the two children who can be seen next to the statue and adore it. In the end, there was no trial because Netflix and Warner Bros. admitted the copyright infringement and reached an out-of-court settlement with the organization. Whether and how much compensation was paid is unknown, the organization is now named as the author in the credits.
