Michael Goi

Michael Goi (born March 4, 1959 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American cameraman and film director .

Life

Goi graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a degree in film. From the late 1980s he worked regularly as an independent cameraman. He was involved in various film and television projects until the 2000s, and since 2007 his focus has been on television series. He worked several times with the director and screenwriter Charles Robert Carner.

In 1989 Goi made his debut as a screenwriter with the film Chains . He was also involved in this production as a cameraman. In 1999 he directed the erotic film Voyeur, his first own production, for which he also wrote the script. In 2002 he shot an episode of the series Sexy Urban Legends , followed in 2011 with Megan Is Missing, his second film as a director. Other film and television directing work followed, including the 2019 horror film Mary, starring Gary Oldman .

Goi was President of the American Society of Cinematographers from 2009 to mid-2012 .

Goi was nominated for an Emmy in 2008, 2012 as well as 2013 and 2015 .
