action

Former oil company worker John Sanders is a fisherman on a river in Louisiana .

He is supported by his ex-wife Dr. Kelly Raymond came to the rescue when it became clear that a giant bull shark was up to mischief in the swamps of Louisiana. As the beast claims more and more victims, the two fall into the hands of unscrupulous drug dealers who are looking for the booty of a robbery.

The call for help from his wife is not inconvenient for Sanders, as he is overwhelmed with the repayment of a loan. With a rather unusual team they move into the dangerous waters and try to find out the origin of the man-eating beast with the residents there.

In the meantime, the drug dealers are trying to find the lost money on their own when Sanders and his team drive them to the bow. Just as they are taking soil and water samples for new holes, Kelly finds the unconscious board underwater. Not knowing anything bad, they save him, are taken hostage and, with the gangsters behind their necks, have to deal with a blow-out of the derrick. When trying to close the derrick underwater, Hank, the drill ladder, is killed by the shark.

The following night, Sanders and Emery try to overpower the gangsters, but they fail. On top of that, Sanders is injured by Brett with a knife and is supposed to recover the cash box together with Jerry and Kelly. In fact, he and Kelly find the tape, but Sanders is attacked by the shark and believed by the gangsters to be dead. However, the shark only bites into Sanders' diving bottle and drags him through the water to the oil rig. There Sanders was able to free himself from his diving harness and flee to the oil rig, but the shark injured his leg.

While trying to open the now recovered cash box, Jerry and Ice kill Brett. Sanders, in turn, blows up his boat with a targeted shot at a gas cylinder on deck, saving Jerry and then the non-swimmer Emery from the shark. Then he is hoisted back on board the burning boat by Emery with the help of a crane boom in order to save Kelly. Kelly and Sanders leave the remaining ice with the cash box on the exploding boat, but can still jump into the water and is eaten by the shark.

Kelly and Sanders are now trying to get to safety from the shark in the direction of the derrick. Together with Emery they manage to lure the shark below the derrick, whereupon Emery drives the drill head into the monster's throat at the right moment.

background

Filmed in South Africa, the thriller first aired on US television on August 17, 2003. In Germany it was released on DVD in May 2004.

Trivia

In fact, the bull shark often swims long distances up in rivers, sometimes up to 1000 km. The animal is blamed for far more attacks on humans than other shark species. The bull shark becomes up to 3.5 m long; However, the animal shown in the film is considerably larger - presumably to appear more threatening.
