Rosewood Lane is a 2011 American horror thriller directed by, producer, and screenwriter Victor Salva . The main role is played by Rose McGowan .

action

The psychiatrist Sonny Blake, presenter of a counseling program on the radio, moves into the vacant house of her deceased father. There they catch up with bad memories. Her alcoholic father's excesses of violence represent traumatic childhood experiences and have left their mark on her.

But from now on she should have another problem. The newsboy Derek Barber, about whom she was warned by a neighbor, becomes so intrusive that Sonny calls in the police. Her father was already at war with the teenager. After initially harmless pranks, the boy shows his sadistic side. He breaks into Sonny's house, first beats up her ex-boyfriend Barrett, who is visiting, and later murders her best friend Paula. Detective Briggs, who is responsible for the stalking case, wants to help her by getting her out of the house and to safety, but has to lose his life. Even seriously injured, Sonny can flee into her small car. She races at high speed towards Derek, who is looking for open confrontation on the street. A few minutes after a collision with her opponent, he succumbs to his injuries.

At Derek's funeral, Briggs' colleague spots two young men who are watching from a safe distance. As he approaches, the two flee. For the viewer, Derek's face can be seen on both of them. So it should not have been a perpetrator, but triplets.

criticism

“The director keeps the viewer in line for a long time because they have to make their own sense of the uncompromising terror of the teenager. [...] Salva asks a lot of questions, but in the end slips away from the affair without convincing answers. [...] Conclusion: Rosewood Lane is a solidly staged horror thriller with a really unusual villain, but fresh ideas and real goosebumps remain the exception - and the finale is very disappointing. "

“It is gratifying [...] that the staging manages almost without any splatter moments. [...] Despite the very straightforward script, the actors manage with their convincing performance that they never get bored at all. "
