Reaper is an American television series developed by Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas. The series was produced by ABC Television Studio from 2007 to 2009 . Kevin Smith directed the pilot and served as the series' creative consultant.

The first season of the series was broadcast from September 25, 2007 to May 20, 2008 on the US broadcaster The CW Television Network , the second season ran from March 3 to May 29, 2009. The German premiere was on the pay TV station FOX Channel from May 20, 2008. On German free TV , ProSieben has shown the episodes of the first season since April 20, 2009 on Monday evenings. However, the broadcast was canceled after the 16th episode and was only resumed on April 16, 2011.

The series is now considered discontinued because The CW was unwilling to order a third season and no other broadcaster took over the series.

action

Sam Oliver lives in Seattle with his parents and younger brother Keith . After dropping out of college, he took a low-paying job at the local hardware store, The Work Bench , and spends most of his free time playing video games and doing nothing.

On his 21st birthday, his life changes suddenly when he learns that his parents sold his soul to the devil before he was born. He decides to use the young man to capture souls who have fled from hell , with Sam being supported by his colleagues Bert (called Sock) and Ben. In each episode he receives a different “vessel” from the devil (everyday objects such as hand vacuum cleaners or cassette recorders) in which the souls are to be captured.

After a while, Sock's mother decides that her son is old enough to live alone and kicks him out. Sock persuades Sam and Ben to form a shared apartment. Their new neighbors Steve and Tony soon turn out to be demons who have fled from hell who want to overthrow the devil together with like-minded demons.

Unlike Steve, who wants to defeat Satan without violence through good deeds, Tony pushes for the devil to be murdered. He persuades Sam to take advantage of his close relationship with the devil and get his personal cell phone number. With the help of this cell phone number, the demons summon the devil to destroy him. However, the sword of the Archangel Michael, with which they wanted to kill the devil, is a fake and the whole action - even the housing brokerage to Sam, Ben and Sock - an intrigue of the devil, who wanted to gather all the conspirators in one place to bring them together to destroy. He lets the building they are in collapse, but teleports Sam outside first. Steve and most of the other demons die, but Tony survives.
