Barney Gorman, a Philadelphia garbage man, has a son, Danny, who is embarrassed about his father's job. Barney turns out to be a sporting talent by chance. A talent scout discovers him and offers a contract with the Philadelphia Eagles football team. The owner of the crew hopes for the public impact that will result from giving a garbage man a chance.
Barney is looked at first in the team askew. He helps to win it from the very first game.
The former garbage collector makes a lot of money with the Philadelphia Eagles, but his friends and family turn away from him. He then played worse, was fired, reconciled with the family and was reinstated with the Philadelphia Eagles.
