Saybia on the Lowlands 2007

Saybia is a Danish band that was founded on the island of Funen in 1993 and is often compared to bands like Coldplay or Travis in terms of their musical style and their often melancholy songs .

history

After a few EPs were released and mainly sold at concerts, the band presented the ballad The Second You Sleep and the debut album of the same name in 2002 . The album reached number 1 in the album charts in its Danish homeland and was also at the top of the charts in Norway. It was awarded platinum in both countries . It also hit the charts in Switzerland and the Netherlands.

This was followed by concerts and an 18-month tour that took them to America. After the tour, Saybia were allegedly burned out and rumors of separation and disbandment arose around the group. The band bought a house south of Copenhagen , renovated and converted it into a studio. For songwriting, the band withdrew to the Swedish island of Gotland for two months .

Her second album These Are the Days was released in September 2004 together with the single Brilliant Sky . Saybia presented her album on an extensive tour through Europe , Japan and China that lasted until the end of August 2005. In the charts they came back to number 1 in Denmark and in the top 20 in the other countries.

In the summer of 2006 Saybia gave a few concerts in their home country, but also in Holland and Switzerland. There were a few new songs with me. The third album called Eyes on the Highway was released on August 27, 2007. For the first time they missed number 1 and although they still achieved high placements everywhere, it lagged well behind the success of the first two albums.

After that, the band members mainly pursued their own projects. Singer Søren Huss recorded two very successful solo albums, both of which topped the Danish charts. The band did not get back together in the recording studio until the middle of the 2010s, with Kasper Rasmussen replacing the guitarist Sebastian Sandstrøm. At the beginning of October 2015 they released their fourth studio album No Sound from the Outside .
