Reviews and prices

In a review of the Webcomic Examiner the idiosyncratic atmosphere of the comics is described as “hard to describe” and the dialogues as “hyper-ironic with false naivety” (“hyper-ironic faux naive”). The social interaction of the characters is compared to that of a sitcom , while the supernatural events are essential, but never really threatening. The style has since found some imitators.

The Sunday Times described Scary Go Round as "postmodern British horror" and as "subtle and stylishly drawn".

The comic has received various honors since its inception. Among other things, it was included in the Webcomic Examiner's 2004 Best Webcomics and won several Web Cartoonist's Choice Awards (2003 and 2005).

Others

The title of the comic is a play on the English expression “merry-go-round” (German carousel), in which the word “merry” (happy, cheerful) is replaced by “scary” (creepy, fearsome).
