The Schömer-Haus is an administrative building in the Weidling district in the municipality of Klosterneuburg near Vienna in the Tulln district in Lower Austria .

history

The administration building, built according to the plans of the architect Heinz Tesar in 1987, served the Schömer building materials store and was the administrative center of the Baumax hardware store chain until 2015. Until the opening of the Essl Museum in 1999, the entrance hall served as the exhibition center for the Essl Collection .

architecture

The four-storey, rectangular, symmetrical building has a central entrance area, which in the building ends in an open lift tower. The large three-storey entrance hall with the shape of an oval shows gallery corridors to the individual offices. The hall is illuminated by a lantern above the lift tower and by circles of light inserted in the ceiling, creating the optical effect of a dome.
