The Banded Corydoras ( Scleromystax barbatus ) is a freshwater ornamental fish of the genus Scleromystax from the family of Callichthyidae , he is in eastern Brazil is home and with a maximum height of 12 cm, the largest known Panzerwelsart.

The armored catfish lives in smaller schools and is mostly, but not exclusively, at the bottom of the water. As an intestinal breather , it also needs free access to the water surface.
