Schadowstrasse 36
The commercial building at Schadowstrasse 36 on the corner of Victoriastrasse in Düsseldorf was built in 1893 according to plans by Thüshaus and Abbema . The facade, built with Eifel sandstone, showed "Gothic forms" (neo-Gothic), such as Gothic pointed arches and tracery in the parapet fields . The four-story house had bay windows facing the street . A spire emphasized the sloping corner of the building . The first and second floors had large shop windows. Originally only the basement, ground floor and first floor were to be used as business premises, later all floors were used by the Adolf Mathaei company. The building has not been preserved.
