Schaffhausen is the third largest district (municipality) of the municipality of Wadgassen in the Saarlouis district ( Saarland ).

history

The place is mentioned for the first time as Zhafhusen in a document from 1325 . Schaffhausen was the place where the sheep of the Wadgassen Abbey lived , so grazed. The Bist flows through Schaffhausen and flows into the Saar in Wadgassen .

Schaffhausen has a primary school , a kindergarten , a Catholic church ( Hl. Guardian Angel ) and the only part of the community is a Protestant church. It is the seat of the Protestant parish of Schaffhausen, which has stretched from Wadgassen to Überherrn since it was separated from the Saarlouis parent community in the 1960s .

On January 1, 1974, Schaffhausen was incorporated into the municipality of Wadgassen.

Culture

Since 1983 there has been an amateur play group in Schaffhausen who perform a new fairy tale every Advent.
