Shams ad-Dīn as-Samatrānī

Shams ad-Dīn ibn ʿAbdallāh as-Samatrānī ( Arabic شمس الدين بن عبد الله السمطراني, DMG Shams ad-Dīn ibn ʿAbdallāh as-Samaṭrānī ; died 1630 ) was an influential Sumatran Sufi and Islamic theologian in the Sultanate of Aceh during the reign of Sultan Iskandar Muda . He was a follower and student of Hamzah Fansuri who had studied in Mecca and Medina . Her teaching, which was based on Ibn Arabi's wahdat-al-wudschūd theory (“unity of existence”), was vehemently opposed by Nūr ad-Dīn ar-Rānīrī from Gujarat .
