In addition to the dominant cultural history collection, which also includes a faithfully restored weaving room , there is also a natural history inventory, which mainly includes prepared animals from the Schanfigg. The Eggahuus

Wall inscription on Eggahuus

The Eggahuus is one of the oldest still existing houses in Arosa. It is a two-story semi-detached house from the 16th century. It is a typical Walser house that has been the political, economic and cultural center of Arosa for centuries. In 1655 it was rebuilt by master Jöri Hold . A coat of arms stone is embedded above the entrance door, with two family coats of arms , a house sign and the dates 1545 and 1655. The following owners are known:

  • 1550 Brunoldt family
  • 1575 City of Chur, shortly afterwards the Meisser family
  • 1650 Family Jänni (Jenny)
  • 1800 Hold family
  • 1944 Association for local history and nature conservation

At the beginning of the tourist ascent of Arosa, the Eggahuus served as the Egga inn and guesthouse . It has marked the end of Schanfiggerstrasse since 1890 . The pine trunk next to the entrance is centuries old and was recovered from the bottom of the Schwellisee . The hay barn at Eggahus was a gift from Carl Kupferschmid , who gave it to the local history museum in 1981 after purchasing a piece of land on Hörnlistrasse .
