The Scharfenberg is a conical, fully wooded, 396.1 m high mountain in the Ruhla district of Thal in the Wartburg district in Thuringia .
The Scharfenberg is located in the Erbstromtal and carries the ruins of the medieval Scharfenburg on the summit . On the southern slope of the Scharfenberg, mining (on copper ore) was also carried out at times.
