The Schaumburger Jugendchor is a choir for children and young people from the Schaumburger Land , based in Bückeburg ( district of Schaumburg , Lower Saxony ).

history

In 1980 the choir director at the time Denis Halikiopoulos founded the Schaumburg Youth Choir with interested singers. The choir sang for a long time, deviating from the traditional mixed choir: The tenor part was sung by a low alto voice, so that at that time the choir consisted of soprano, mezzo-soprano, alto and bass-baritone. In this way a soft, rounded sound was created. In January 2006 the choir returned to a similar cast. The choir has a broad repertoire and sings international folklore in the original languages, especially on its trips abroad, but also German folk songs, choir songs from different epochs such as the Romantic period, or sacred choral songs. Concert tours take place regularly. The Schaumburg Youth Choir has performed in concerts in the USA, Japan and numerous other countries. Since 2001 he has been taking part in the Eurotreff in Wolfenbüttel .

With Singschule I for three to four year olds, Singschule II for five to seven year olds, the children's choir as a preparatory stage for the concert choir and the concert choir for members aged around twelve, the Schaumburg Youth Choir consists of a total of four singing groups. The Schaumburg Youth Choir offers the MUSIKGARTEN concept for children under three.

In 1982 Thomas Wirtz took over the direction of the choir, followed in 1991 by Jochen Mühlbach. After a short time by Silja Stegemeier, Insa Dreismann was commissioned to lead the choir in 2000. From 2004 to 2013 Andreas Mattersteig was responsible for the artistic work. For two years, from 2013 to 2015, Jelena Agbaba led the children's and concert choir very successfully. While Ms. Agbaba continues to be artistically responsible for the children's choir, the direction of the concert choir has been the responsibility of Ms. Stephanie Feindt since 2016, who has been responsible for singing schools I and II for two years.

In 2006 the choir took part in an exchange program with the “Blue Lake International Choir” from Michigan , which was about an exchange not only in the field of music, but also on a general cultural level.
