Schelto Patijn
Schelto Patijn (born August 13, 1936 in The Hague , † July 15, 2007 in Amsterdam ) was a Dutch politician ( Partij van de Arbeid (PvdA)) and mayor of Amsterdam.
Patijn was a member of the European Parliament from May 1973 to 1979 and from June 1984 Commissioner for the Queen of the Province of Zuid-Holland . As the successor to Ed van Thijn , Patijn was appointed Mayor of Amsterdam in June 1994. In January 2001, Job Cohen followed him in office.
Patijn received the Order of the Dutch Lion in 1987 and the Order of Orange-Nassau in 1994 .
