Stefan Plepp (* 1968 in Wolfen , district Bitterfeld , Halle Region ) is a German actor .

Life

education

Stefan Plepp has been artistically active since childhood and youth. At the age of 11 he began to play in the youth theater of the ORWO Wolfen film factory , directed by an actress from the State Theater Dessau, and learned various instruments. In 1984 he began an acting training, which he interrupted in 1986 because of his military service . Before turning professionally to acting, he studied theoretical and mathematical physics at the Technical University of Dresden , the Ruprecht-Karls-University of Heidelberg and the Free University of Berlin . He completed his university career in 1996.

He completed his acting training parallel to teaching physics and mathematics at the Free University of Berlin from 1996 to 1999 at the drama school " Die Etage " in Berlin .

After completing his training, he first played at the Theater am Kurfürstendamm in the comedy Ein Mann - ein Wort or: The 30 Years War at the side and directed by Herbert Herrmann . In the 2000/01 season he was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Landesbühne Sachsen-Anhalt , where he appeared as Eisenring in Biedermann and the Arsonists and as Smirnov in Chekhov's one-act play Der Bär .

From May 2002 until the end of the 2007/08 season he was engaged at the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Theater in Görlitz-Zittau . During this time he performed a. a. at the Erfurt Theater (April / May 2003), several times at the Scala Ludwigsburg , a. a. as Marquis von Posa ( Don Karlos ) and as Truffaldino ( The Servant of Two Masters ), and in the Müritz saga (2006).

Since 2005 he has been a member of the Shakespeare Company Berlin , of which he is co-owner. He had numerous leading roles there, such as Tybalt / Nurse in Romeo and Juliet , Petrucchio in The Taming of the Shrew , Iago in Othello and Malcolm / Porter in Macbeth . Since 2016 he has played Shylock in a production of Shakespeare's tragic comedy The Merchant of Venice , with which he has since toured Germany. At the Shakespeare Company Berlin, Plepp was Commercial Director (CFO) from 2012 to 2015. In 2017 he was appointed managing director of the newly founded organizer of the Shakespeare Company "Shakespeare in Green" GmbH.

Movie and TV

After various advanced and advanced training courses, u. a. at the Institute for Acting, Film and TV Professions (ISFF) in Berlin and at the Berlin acting and coaching agency “Die Tankstelle”, Plepp is increasingly in front of the camera for film and TV productions.

He worked with directors such as Christian Schwochow , Roland Suso Richter and Dominik Graf . He had TV roles a. a. in the series In the face of crime (2010), Klinik am Alex (with Toks Körner as a partner) and Gute Zeiten, Bad Zeiten (2017). In the 16th season of the ZDF series SOKO Wismar (2019), Plepp took on one of the main roles in the episode as the suspect small business owner and night porter Benjamin Steinmann, whose mother was found murdered.

In 2016 he made the award-winning short film Va Banque , which was shown at numerous festivals and in which he was responsible as author, director, leading actor (as teacher Dr. Rath), composer and producer.

Music and private matters

Stefan Plepp, who plays the saxophone , accordion , piano and Hammond organ , is also active as a musician. He wrote the music for various plays, set poems to music (by Tucholsky and Ringelnatz, among others ) and performed with his own funk band .
