The Scherer group of companies is active in the automotive, construction and real estate industries. The Rhineland-Palatinate family business, founded in 1937, employs over 1,900 people, 380 of whom are trainees.
The history of the Scherer group of companies
The company was founded in 1937 by Ernst Friedrich Scherer - initially as a transport company for milk and pine greens . Scherer has been involved in building materials wholesaling since 1951, and lava mining since 1952.
Scherer has been in the car trade since the early 1960s - initially as an authorized Volkswagen dealer. Scherer has been an Audi dealer since 1968 (at that time still Auto Union ). The brands Skoda, Seat and Porsche were added in the early 2000s. Scherer has also been an authorized Maserati dealer since 2018. Today the company is run in the third generation by Ernst Christian Scherer and Jörg Scherer.

The automotive sector
The Scherer group of companies includes 31 car dealerships at 19 locations in Rhineland-Palatinate, Hesse, Baden-Württemberg, Saarland and Bavaria. The brands Audi , Volkswagen , Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles , Porsche , Seat , Cupra , Škoda , Maserati and MAN are traded and serviced here. The offer is supplemented by petrol stations and a car rental company.
The building materials division
The range of services provided by Scherer building materials includes the extraction, refinement and sale of lava and basalt rock , the execution of demolition and earthworks, as well as activities in the field of waste management and building materials trading. A forwarding agency is also part of the operation. Scherer Baustoffe employs over 100 people at its headquarters in Kastellaun and in its processing plants.
The commercial vehicle division
In Kastellaun, Scherer Nutzfahrzeuge GmbH operates a MAN service center. The tasks of the MAN service center include repairs of commercial vehicles and trailers of all makes, breakdown service, brokerage and sale of new and used vehicles, sales of accessories and spare parts, tire trade with service, a car wash and the rental of vehicles.
