Schimm is a district of the municipality of Lübow in the district of Northwest Mecklenburg in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . In the formerly independent municipality, 284 inhabitants (December 31, 2007) lived on 15.88 km².

Schimm is located in hilly terrain on the North Sea-Baltic Sea watershed , eleven kilometers southeast of Wismar and six kilometers from the northern tip of Lake Schwerin .

history

The former estate village emerged from a Slavic settlement. It was divided into many individual farms by many owners, which can still be recognized today by the loosened up buildings.

On July 1, 1950, the previously independent community Maßlow was incorporated.

The community of Schimm, to which the districts Maßlow and Tarzow belonged, was dissolved on June 7, 2009 and incorporated into Lübow . The last honorary mayor of Schimms was Heinz Kasparick.

Transport links

Schimm is located on the road connecting Wismar and Jesendorf . The nearest train station is in nearby Ventschow ( Schwerin - Rostock line ). Bundesautobahn 20 passes a few kilometers north of Schimm .
