The Schist Point ( English for slate tip ) is a prominent headland on the south coast of Coronation Island in the archipelago of the South Orkney Islands . It is on the west side of the Divide Peaks .
British Discovery Investigations scientists first surveyed the headland in 1933. The name was given by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey following surveys carried out between 1948 and 1949. It is named after the fact that the headland marks the eastern limit of the occurrence of metamorphic rock in this part of the island.
