The Schlesien Journal ( Polish : Dziennik Śląski ) is a German-language television program in Poland. It is aimed at the German minority and the residents of Upper Silesia , where an estimated 10% of the population speak German. The Schlesien Journal is produced by the production company Pro Futura GmbH on behalf of the German minority for the public television TVP .

The Schlesien Journal started in 1992 on TVP3 Katowice and was initially broadcast twice a month for around 30 minutes. It was the first national minority program on public television. In 1997 the Schlesien Journal received the German - Polish Journalism Award. Between 2001 and 2005 the branch "Schlesien Journal Jung" was produced, which was aimed at younger viewers. Since August 2, 2010, the program has also been broadcast on the private television station TVS . This sends u. a. also via the Eutelsat satellite Hot-Bird, which enabled the broadcast to be received nationwide for the first time. In the same year, TVS was temporarily suspended. From March 27, 2011 to May 14, 2012, however, the program was also broadcast on CSB TV and, after a brief interruption, can be received again on Hot Bird. Since the beginning of 2011, the programs have also been online in high definition on YouTube. Previously, individual episodes were put online for a few weeks in low resolution for a few months.

Today the Schlesien Journal is broadcast weekly on TVS (Tuesdays, 4:40 p.m. and Thursdays, 6:05 p.m.), TVP3 Opole (Tuesdays, 7:45 p.m.) and TVP3 Katowice (Wednesdays, 12:40 p.m.) for 15 minutes. It informs viewers in German with Polish subtitles about German festivals and culture in the region. The show will be moderated by Katarzyna Gierszewska and Ewa Wieszołek-Stolz.
