Silesian Mountain Railway
The Silesian Mountain Railway is a railway connection in present-day Poland , which was originally built and operated by the Prussian State Railway .
history
The originally planned Silesian Mountain Railway from Kohlfurt via Lauban and Dittersbach to Glatz along with the branch lines Görlitz - Lauban , Ruhbank - Liebau and Dittersbach - Altwasser with a connection to the Breslau-Schweidnitz-Freiburg Railway was planned as part of a new continuous railway connection between Berlin and Vienna . Due to the political conflict of interests between Prussia and Austria , which culminated in the German War in 1866 , this project could only be realized with a delay and never achieved the intended significance.
The following railway lines are now part of the Silesian Mountain Railway:
- The Zgorzelec – Wałbrzych (Görlitz– Waldenburg-Dittersbach ) railway line ,
- the north-western branch of the Węgliniec – Lubań (Kohlfurt – Lauban) railway ,
- the Wałbrzych – Kłodzko railway line (Waldenburg-Dittersbach – Glatz) as an eastern extension .
